Always a Day Late/#SoCS

Yep, that’s me most often.  When it comes to my creative endeavors and meeting deadlines for prompts, I am not as dedicated as my Mussel Loving friend Dan of No Facilities .  He meets all deadlines with ‘i’s’ dotted and ‘t’s’ crossed, with humor and nice photos.

I am more aptly categorized as scattered and prone to whimsy when it comes to sharing those things that I do for fun. I have often been asked why, since I enjoy doing so many things creatively, I don’t do ‘such and such’ as a business.  For me, to focus all my energy on one particular pastime would steal the joy from it and also possibly prohibit me from doing those other things I love so much.  I guess maybe I am akin to the bees and butterflies I love to photograph so much, flitting from bloom to bloom and drinking in the sweetness each has to offer, but not lingering long enough to miss another possibility.

So, for #ThursdayDoors I am late, but sliding in to home base for the #SoCS prompt by our host Linda Hill

Forgive me for not being more present on WP lately but I have definitely spent the last week enjoying life’s  precious offerings so that I could share them with you, my precious friends in the blogging world. I am hoping your #Free48 is filled with many precious moments.  Hugs!

Last Saturday’s adventure led us to Sope Creek National Park in Marietta, Georgia.  I was so thrilled to be in the shadows of the woods, dip my toes in the cool water and breathe softly with Mother Nature. Precious indeed.

My art time is also precious to me, though it takes me much longer to complete a piece than most folks. Still working on my devilish mermaid who loves her Old Fashioned made with Angel’s Envy.  😉

Finding moments to whip up energy bites can be a challenge too, but I never regret the time spent.  Yummy!

Now, here’s another favorite hymn from my days in Sunday services as a child

Lincoln Church/#Thursday Doors

Unlike my tenacious blogging buddy, Dan Antion, I don’t have a lot of research to add to this week’s door photo. The First Plymouth Church of Lincoln was beautiful and peaceful. My new daughter-in-law and dear friend introduced us to it while on an evening walk during our recent trip to Lincoln for their wedding. She thought I would like it. I loved it! Just click on the link above to find out more about the services and mission statement.

From their website:

“First Plymouth Congregational church is a merger of two congregations.  On the morning of Sunday, August 19, 1866, First Congregation was organized in what was then known as Lancaster, Nebraska.  It was and is the first congregation to be organized in the town.  One year later, the name of the town was changed to Lincoln.

In 1869, the congregation completed its first building, a 25 by 40 foot structure at 13th and L streets where the Cornhusker Hotel is now located.  The congregation grew and prospered along with the city…”

There are now two locations of the church.

The church is broadly diverse and non-denominational with intricate architectural accents-a work of art canvased against a bright Nebraska skyline.  There is even a sitting garden with a wall of internment memorials, simple yet significant.

I am sharing it here along with a few other images from our walk. Happy Friday my friends. It has been a long week now that I am once again so away far from my precious treasures…

It was a nice evening for a walk. The church was only a few blocks away which gave us a chance to enjoy the beautiful old homes and landscape. Eventually the church rose ahead of us, partially hidden in the shade of the trees.

Hayley tells me the bells ringing on Sunday morning is really beautiful. I am sorry I missed that.

The tower was so impressive. I am not certain who the images are but perhaps saints or famous religious figures.

The garden has a beautiful view of the distant skyline and is very peaceful.

As a photographer, it was the architectural details that really caught my eye.  If you ever get to Lincoln, you should at least drive by for a visit.

With the sun setting, we took a few more photos and headed home.  We had a wedding to be ready for!  Next time…..

Norm Frampton is on holiday until October, but visit the link for this week’s guest host site and more great doors!

Just for Fun

Hi all! I hope everyone in the states enjoyed a #Free72. That’s a #Free48 plus! We just hung around the house, tackled some previously avoided projects and had a chill weekend. We are keeping an eye on that storm though. Lots of family and friends spread throughout that corridor.

I did some organizing, we had one shopping spree and I got some writing done (yay!) and also a few creative things as well. Here are just a few highlights. I downloaded a new fun art app called PicsArt. I’m hoping to get better with it. I love it, though.

And looking mighty sultry, I might add…

we got a new toy! 👏🏻We actually fell in love with the coffee first. Then came the machine, once it went on sale. This is really a nice espresso machine, I have to say.

Annnnd….we have a new sentry in the front yard. Found her there, just hanging around.

Roundup went well. Nothin’ left but the numbing. Wish there was someone soft and sweet to keep me company, to erase the red dirt and sweaty leather from my senses. Whiskey, Ole girl, let’s dance the night away.

“How much longer, Mother? I want to see Grandfather. It’s so cold here!”

”Get back inside and wrap yourself in a blanket. Tomorrow, child. Perhaps tomorrow we find them. I’ll make a fire to warm you, but you must stay off the ground!”

This post inspired by Linda Hill’s SoCS prompt, ‘round’. For details and more great posts, visit Linda’s site. These images were taken at the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, GA

Happy #Free48 everyone!
