When All Else Fails/#photography
It is good to turn our attention to the things that are constant, reliable and ever present in these uncertain social, political and rapidly changing times.

Anyone with a basic knowledge of the way our world turns understands that even though we don’t see her in the bright light of day, the moon is ever present. She is constant and certain as is the sunrise.
In these times of world turmoil, of a questionable healthy future for our planet and the shattering of so many of the certainties we once took comfort in, it encourages me to cling to the constants in life, to remember that they are there, even when we can’t see them easily.
Hope lives as long as one person carries it in their soul, love is present in creation even though it sometimes seems scarce, and Existence is infinite, whether humanity is wise enough to maintain its place within the grand Matrix of the living essence.
I am encouraged by the chain of life that marches on, refusing to accept or recognize defeat. The beauty of its face keeps me grounded in hope, clinging to love and praying for his future…for the future of life.
Nature’s Face/Photography/Poetry
At times I trudge through my life, sometimes with steps as light as air, yet often as though pulling lead balls chained to my ankles; still, I find constant comfort in the face of Nature. We have had a dreary sort of Winter, although the holidays were bright and full. The unrest in the world is palpable, carried on the chilly wind and hanging in the raindrops that seem endless on every weekend that comes around here in Georgia.
Yesterday was a reprieve and I was determined to find solace in the free blessings and gifts of Mother Earth. The message in her soul is always the same, so clear and encouraging, sometimes more so in those arenas made by humans to showcase her handiwork.
We are here!!!
Each face is as unique as our own, their expression and exuberance so real you can almost hear their voices singing for the change of season. I believe Nature’s joy in Spring is contagious. Can you hear them?
Spring tiptoes in on velvet slippers,
Peering around dark corners and waiting in the shadows,
lest the jealous heart of Jack Frost linger to nip her nose
or sting her toes…
Would that I could soar and fly
on dragon wings into the sky.
the bees might envy me-
I say…
Excuse me, Sir, are you going my way?
Alas, my human body is bound
upon this thawing, sacred ground
called terra firma.
but..
My dreams can fly!
As I peer into the laughing face of Sunshine, teasing us from moment to moment..

With Nature as my muse, you see?
But vigilance and care must reign
or all was labor thus in vain.
We must not let the forever sun set on the Creator’s gift.
Ask not for whom the bell tolls.
It tolls for thee and me and we,
but never they…
For Nature always finds a way…….

Happy #Free48 everyone.
Words
Happy long weekend everyone. I sincerely hope that all of you are sharing some peaceful, joy filled moments over this holiday in spite of the chaos going on in the world.
I woke up this morning, as always, with brain engaged and clicking ideas at me. The idea of words is weighing heavily on my mind today, how they direct our thoughts, our creativity, our hopes and fears, and how changing just a few words can possibly change many things.
I was thinking of illness and adversity. It is quite common to hear phrases like,
“She is fighting cancer. He is battling depression.”
”They struggle with financial woes.”
Words are the most powerful magic we possess. With words one can wound or heal, lift up or tear down, encourage or depress and change the course of any given moment. Suppose then, in the statements above, although they may be true as they are, the key words were changed. What if…
”She is on a quest to heal herself.”
“His mission is to overcome depression.”
”They are challenged by the cost of living.”
This may sound trite or overly simple, but it isn’t. When we choose words that move toward positive feelings, stir and encourage empowerment over struggle and defeat, it arms us with what we need most to be successful in any situation-hope.
There is a wonderful series of books and audio programs written about the law of attraction-drawing to us that which we desire. The first one I read was The Vortex by Esther and Jerry Hicks. While there is so much to glean from this series, the primary idea that stuck with me refers to our tendency, as humans, to focus on the negative things in our lives rather than what we envision that life to be.
Many of us do this without even realizing it. Often, we pray to God, “I always find bad partners. I never meet nice men/women. People don’t like me. I don’t want to be ugly.“
What if, instead, we banish he words “bad”, “can’t” and “never” from our thoughts, prayers, wishes and ideas. Then our hope might become, “God, send me the person who will share a life of joy and happiness with me. Let others see my true beauty. Help me to be the kind of friend I need in another person.” Keep the thought of perfection clearly in your mind and, difficult as it may be, send the memory of the ‘bad’ experiences into the abyss of the past. It also helps to be thankful for what you desire before it manifests.
“I am thankful that my interview will go perfectly. This job is mine if that is where I will be most productive, happy and prosperous.”
Instead of…
“I hope they don’t hate me. I can’t lose another job or my family will starve!”.
The thoughts that you hold in your mind and heart become your reality. In a universe where God, Providence-whatever power you believe in-wants your deepest desires to be manifested for you, what you focus on will come to you.
Consider those moments when you think to yourself, “I have to stop eating junk food even though it is easy and lets me be with my friends.” In the next moment a coworker suggests you go out to your favorite burger joint to celebrate her birthday.
Instead, what if the thought becomes, “My health is important to me so I am thankful there are so many choices for me to improve my diet.” Pop. Someone shares their new gluten free recipes with you. This has happened to me. Scouts honor.
Hey, I read the books, I’ve applied these principles to my life and it does work. Do I slip into my Pity Party clothes and sink into old negative mode at times? Of course I do, those times do not linger as long as they used to.
I wish society as a whole could embrace this idea. It isn’t about being ‘politically correct’ but about spreading positive energy into a world that is becoming fraught with more negativity each day.
You can read the books or try it without ever reading a word. I love the books because they made me feel less alone in the world, less like my own little freak show.
Look, in spite of the fact that much of what is in the book some of you might want to pass off as ‘hokey’, the message is a wonderful one. I’m sure in Christ’s time what he was trying to convey, what he did by way of miracles and magic, seemed very hokey to many people. But his message has survived because it was a good one.
Unconditional love, forgiveness, no judgment, non violence, acceptance, wisdom, kindness, peace in the world of chaos.
I see many religions with these basic themes, including Christianity, but see the ideals and fundamental foundation of their faith being crushed beneath the weight of righteousness, bigotry, anger, retribution and judgment. At the heart of it all lies fear. There is no greater enemy than fear. It serves no good purpose. I truly do not believe in ‘good’ or ‘evil’ as conditions we either succumb or aspire to. They exist within every one of us and must be balanced in order for peace to ever find its way into this dream we call life. Existence knows two emotions at its core…Love and Fear. One brings peace and comfort…the other seeks to destroy that which it does not understand or accept.
I plan to carry my hope into this holiday season, to seek those who live with their inner Light shining in spite of the Fear rising in humanity. After all, it only takes one candle to light the darkness..
Use your words with the power they were intended.
There is no fear in perfect love~The Bible
Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.~A Course in Miracles.
Be the miracle you seek in the World…
Don’t Judge Me #OneLinerWednesday
One of the things about the modern mindset that infuriates puzzles me is the concept that nature is cruel and animals that eat other animals is awful. They have been called killers, brutes, a menace, etc. Now, I am no extremist and understand the need to keep the wild things at bay with regard to the general populace; however, from my personal point of view, anyone who isn’t a dedicated practicing vegan has no room to throw stones at the carnivores who inhabit this planet along with we humans but simply happen to place lower on the food chain.
Question in point? What do you think when you see this photo?
Zippy is adorable. Right? Of course he is. He also procreates faster than a rabbit. He and his family have the potential to leave droppings and other highly undesirable things under my porch, in my attic and within our walls. He digs up my potted plants daily. I love him. I give him walnuts from my precious stash.
Now, what do you think when you see these images?

All hawk photos copyright CkP
This is a juvenile Broad Winged Hawk. We spotted it 2 days ago while on an outing. These birds are magnificent. I am in awe of hawks and have a great respect for their fierce hunting skills. I love to capture photos of them looking down at me, their expressions both curious and frightening. Do I look like a possible snack? In many places they are considered to be a menace, as well as eagles, due to their ability to hunt fairly large small game and, at times, that has included small pets. While I feel that is tragic, I don’t think they warrant being called killer birds. For, if that were true, we should surely be called “killer humans”.
Often I show these kind of images to people who cringe and say, “Oh my God that’s horrible.” These are also the people who love slasher movies and Dexter.
Not only do we hunt voraciously and often for pure sport, but we also raise animals for the slaughter, plan the preparations for eating it and then brag about the results.
These birds are efficient, not leaving anything behind and even clean themselves afterwards. See his “beak pick” in the second to last photo? There is no eating for snacks or overeating leading to obesity. They are surviving. We could take a lesson or two.
Cute huh? Adorable I say.
Still cute? Tasty looking I’d say.
No, I am not vegan. Most of the time I can take or leave meat. Sometimes I crave a good burger or pork chop. And who doesn’t love bacon? My point is that I wish humans would stop being so ridiculous, ignoring the truth of who and what we are in the food chain. If we could accept one small part of the truth of life and its process, then perhaps we could learn to accept other fears about life processes that are ridiculous when taken down to the their core. We are all the same in this living, breathing, cellularly connected Existence.
Now, go out and grill some dead animals if you must. Just remember to appreciate and not waste what they gave for you.
❤️🥂

One Thought/#SoCS
Wow! Today’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt rather has me stumped. Perhaps it is because the first impressions that pop into my head are negative when it comes to empty/hollow.
This is a subject my blogging friend Jill Dennison writes about most succinctly. But I’ll leave these nuances of empty promises and hollow words to her. She has the most well researched information I have found.
I guess I would have to say my own world is the antithesis of these things. My heart is so full of hope and vision for what this existence could be that the only moments finding me with a hollow place are when I see and hear about the slow decline of such hope, about the rise of negativity and anger that is building within this creation. There is so much talk, talk, talk; but the action seems to be coming too heavily from the depths of the Great Hollow where Love does not live. So, if you imagine you cannot make a difference because you don’t go out and protest or fight in an army, you are in error in that thought. Any change that occurs globally begins within, for creation is in the heart of every living thing, every thing that exists. I just picked up this book to read again and am finding new and exciting inspiration from it. To my surprise I have indeed grown a lot since the first time I read it. If you want to be engaged, both spiritually and scientfically, this is a great contribution. Mr. Braden has several wonderful books out.
Anyone who knows me knows I am enthralled with the tiny things that work together to make such a huge universe and beyond. If we all immerse ourselves in the understanding of the connectedness of the All That Is rather than viewing ourselves as apart from anything within it, we can effectively create more of what is required to heal it. As I sat reading last evening, a fly kept lighting on my arm, my hand, my leg. My normal instinct would have been to shoo it away in horror. Why? Germs! I know humans who carry worse.
So, I left it alone instead. It stayed awhile and then left. I connected with this part of Creation in a way I never had before. It brought a real sense of peace, allowing it to be where it was even for a moment or two.
Every little thing has its place (except wasps…please tell me what they do good! 😱) Lol.
Here are a few more of the small things that caught my eye yesterday. I hope your #Free48 is filled with a sense of connectedness, with no empty cup or hollow place in your hearts.

If you guys get thirsty, hop on over to The bar at Dan’s blog for a cold one. Who knows? We might meet up there! 😉
