This has been my favorite holiday song for many years. While not a traditional hymn, I feel it speaks to the Spirit of Christmas and the message of the Messiah in the most profound sense. Most people are filled with a sense of wonder, forgiveness, generosity and hope at this time of year. Why should our hearts and minds abandon such truths once the music stops, the decorations come down and the world returns to its spinning, busy, hectic routine? Elvis sang it best…
Why can’t every day be like Christmas? Peace and Love be with you today and every day in the coming year. If you can’t find such peace, then be that peace.
The National Battleground was closed on Christmas Day so we stopped by the Cemetery. I’m sure it wasn’t everyone’s idea of a fun way to spend Christmas afternoon. But we’d had lots of fun for a week. A visit to any cemetery with a long past history is always a treat for me. I wonder where we will end up next year…..
The cemetery is filled with unmarked graves of Civil War soldiersSometimes I am drawn to the epitephs, others just the sheer age of the graveThis tree looks like it found a place to die..It’s just like a stone neighborhoodI had fun using my new photo editor on this oneObviously…Damn, it’s cold..Somehow I feel I’m the only one enjoying this side trip. 😏
If you would like to know more about this cemetery visit the Here,
While I wish all my family could be together for the holidays, I was thrilled to have two of my sons and their sweeties to share this special time with. Here are a few of the highlights. We have always been big movie fanatics-no wonder they all love movies and music. One continues to play music any chance he gets while another has chosen the film industry as his work.
We watched all the usual traditional Christmas favorites as well as the freaky and fun new additions over the years. One of our favorites, especially for my hubby and youngest, was A Christmas Story. “Bumpasses!” And “You’ll shoot your eye out!” ring throughout the house every year and the laughs always come during the final scenes of the turkey tragedy and Chinese dinner. Farararara…..
