Will I, when faced with life’s review,
be content to watch my passage?
Will I be proud, ashamed
to see my name
on that eternal movie screen?
Life, indeed a stage, and each must
play a role with no script in hand.
Do we follow our cues
for the paths we choose
or boldly improvise?
I hope with constant vigilance
to owe such little recompense
that I may revel in the rest
as I lay aside my script
with its pages worn and ripped
to bask in brilliant Light
in sweet repose.
I shall return the key
until it’s time for me
to succumb to the seduction
of another huge production
that will give me second chances
and with no backward glances,
find new glory in the spotlight-
Center stage.

This song was a favorite of mine in Jr High School. I still love it though it is almost never played in oldies venues.
Love and Light and happy #Free48 to everyone!
Dear Lord I can’t believe it. After weeks of being too
a) stressed
b) busy
c) uninspired
d) busy
e) couldn’t get into my account!
I finally remembered the secret password to get into my own space once again. But, now what to do with such freedom? Since returning from our wonderful trip to visit all the grandchildren Life has been so hectic, yet without exploration, sans excursions and short on inspiration. Sigh..
I am hoping anticipating new adventures coming up soon that I can share with you. For now we are in flux, transition and eyeball deep in moving boxes. Stay tuned, for I miss sharing beautiful things with you all. Meanwhile, I am trying to catch up on blog posts but forgive me for being so far behind. I’m still here, still love your words and images, and am still seeking the small and mighty miracles in this insane world we call life.
Some of the more famous people buried in Wyuka Cemetery are George Starkweather and Gordon McRae.
We didn’t get to see every marker but my little buddy helped me to find many very interesting headstones. It was beautiful and nippy there in Cornhusker land. What a grand time seeing everyone.
I always feel like the silence of the cemetery welcomes life and laughter with open arms, like they are saying,
“Thanks for remembering us here.”
Stay tuned…I’ll be back when life slows down to a dull roar. Meanwhile, a word from Ghandi…
Most people close to me understand that while I am quite practical about many things, I also have a very open mind and an even more open heart when it comes to the mystical, magical, ethereal possibilities that exist. A lot of folks have no trouble believing in angels and even ghosts, but simple things like visible energy or communication between worlds is too ‘big’ for them to consider worth contemplating.
Whatever you want to believe, I often experience little magical miracles that occur when I least expect them and need them most. The miracles in my days are often tiny, like the small creatures that crawl or flit into view that I am sometimes able to capture with a camera. Since I, too, often feel unnoticed and insignificant, these creatures loom large in my radar and I want to share their magnificence with the world.
Bees have been prolific this hot, humid Summer. They have presented in all shades, colors and sizes in great numbers. My little garden has become a haven for winged things, many of whom I have shared with you already. I can often tell when one of my tiny friends is waning. A butterfly that sits too long on the bloom and will crawl willingly onto a finger is usually found dead soon after. The same goes for bees lingering too long or moving too slowly. A few days ago there was a tiny bee who stayed in my garden for most of the day, crawling among my pink coneflowers, barely moving from bloom to bloom. It allowed me to get really close for photos and even hung around during the regular run of the sprinkler. I joked that our little friend was enjoying a spa day!
Since we have had temps in the 90’s it seemed our tiny pollinator was enjoying the refreshing shower. Although nearly invisible compared to the larger bumblebees and carpenter bees that visit, this little beauty was delicate and magnificent.
As far as I knew it was still around when we turned in for the night. The next morning the bee was gone but there had been a bit of early morning rain which left lots of lovely drops everywhere. Dewdrops and raindrops are in my top ten favorite things to photograph so I immediately started snapping photos with my phone. I made my way around the garden and ended up by the birdbath. To my great sorrow, I spotted my little bee guest floating near the edge, dead. I was saddened but not surprised. I took it out of the water and laid it in the dirt to be a part of the garden. 😔
When I began editing my photos I was delighted and not surprised to see beautiful, delicate little orbs around the cone flowers where my bee spent the last day of its life.
I have to say here that I have had all sorts of light anomolies in photos and definitely know how to recognize sunlight orbs and dust particles as well as mist spots. I have also taken photos that had orbs in them where none of these influences were present.
What are they? I can only guess. I personally feel they are energy, energy tied to extreme emotional responses. But that is my unscientific supposition. Then again, I am not a scientist. I am merely an observer and willing participant in this madly intriguing walk we call life. I will continue to watch for miracles, lift up the unseen into the light of appreciation, and accept what gifts the universe chooses to give me.
You look. You decide.
Just imagine the possibilities..
#1LinerWednesday
At times I trudge through my life, sometimes with steps as light as air, yet often as though pulling lead balls chained to my ankles; still, I find constant comfort in the face of Nature. We have had a dreary sort of Winter, although the holidays were bright and full. The unrest in the world is palpable, carried on the chilly wind and hanging in the raindrops that seem endless on every weekend that comes around here in Georgia.
Yesterday was a reprieve and I was determined to find solace in the free blessings and gifts of Mother Earth. The message in her soul is always the same, so clear and encouraging, sometimes more so in those arenas made by humans to showcase her handiwork.
We are here!!!
Each face is as unique as our own, their expression and exuberance so real you can almost hear their voices singing for the change of season. I believe Nature’s joy in Spring is contagious. Can you hear them?
Spring tiptoes in on velvet slippers,
Peering around dark corners and waiting in the shadows,
lest the jealous heart of Jack Frost linger to nip her nose
or sting her toes…
Would that I could soar and fly
on dragon wings into the sky.
the bees might envy me-
I say…
Excuse me, Sir, are you going my way?
Alas, my human body is bound
upon this thawing, sacred ground
called terra firma.
but..
My dreams can fly!
As I peer into the laughing face of Sunshine, teasing us from moment to moment..
With Nature as my muse, you see?
But vigilance and care must reign
or all was labor thus in vain.
We must not let the forever sun set on the Creator’s gift.
Ask not for whom the bell tolls.
It tolls for thee and me and we,
but never they…
For Nature always finds a way…….
Today’s images brought to you courtesy of the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, an ever evolving transformational vista of living beauty, located right in the heart of an enormous, bustling city. It can be done when we nurture the spirit of life and give her room to blossom!
Happy #Free48 everyone.
Remember Me
Remember me,
tho nevermore
my face you’ll see,
for I will still
abide with thee
in shadows long-
unfettered-free,
reaching
towards eternity,
yet will I come
if only ye
have need and lonely
call to me-
thus to your side
and swiftly!
forever where I long to be.
Hear my voice in
the cicada serenade,
feel my touch in
sunlight on your skin,
see me in the smile of a child-
running wild,
for shall I be!
Do not weep,
when ’ere you sleep,
for we shall meet
in dreams as sweet
as honeysuckle dew
Remember me,
I’ll not forget you.
