Roundup went well. Nothin’ left but the numbing. Wish there was someone soft and sweet to keep me company, to erase the red dirt and sweaty leather from my senses. Whiskey, Ole girl, let’s dance the night away.

”Get back inside and wrap yourself in a blanket. Tomorrow, child. Perhaps tomorrow we find them. I’ll make a fire to warm you, but you must stay off the ground!”
