Well, hello Day 9 of Linda Hillโs yearly writing event. Todayโs prompt was given by Pensivity 101. You should check put both of these blogs for lots of creative ideas and great writing. Todayโs prompt pastime brings up a subject of contradiction for me. It isnโt that I have none, nor that I have no time to pass. Quite the opposite is true. Being retired, which by the way just means I donโt get paid for my labors any longer. I still stay busy with working to live, but at least these efforts are for us, and there is no one to appease but the birds, the growing things and our โfosterโ pets who show up a few times a day for nibbles or trying to squeeze in through the crack in the screen door I use to feed them. Last evening I had the windows open for the cool breezes, and the two dogs had their paws up on the sill, hoping for a treat. I know I likely shouldnโt have, but who could resist those eager hopeful faces. And since all my grands are in other places, well, the furry ones get spoiled now and again. The truth is, with all the creative projects I enjoy as well as exploring and living life, itโs a wonder I have any time left to pass. ๐
Here are a few of my favorite thingsโฆ

Cooking, baking, eatingโฆ thatโs gumbo, BTW. With Potato salad, cornbread and rice. Cranberry Pinwheel cookies and an Old Fashioned. Well, it was a holidayโฆ

Artโฆ you may recognize this piece. ๐

Working on Book Two. At this point Iโd call my project more of an obsession than a pastime.๐ซข
I must admit, I have many more pastimes and had plans to share photos, but WP has once again deemed me unfit to add more photos. So I must be on cleanup duty. Meanwhile, I also love chasing rainbows, bees, beetles and the occasional snake. Coloring, sketching, painting, making dreamcatchers and jewelry, poetry, gardening and shopping at thrift stores. I even love, love to sweep. I will leave you with thisโฆ

Mary tried the Jane Fonda workout once, when it was all the rage. She kept up pretty well until Jane said “okay, that was the warmup”…

Haha! I used it faithfully for years but watched her on tv. And used the book. It remains my favorite for overall toning. I tried it a year ago and half kept up. It was the next dayโs stress to my joints that whispered, โYou should try her workouts for older womenโ. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ

Lolol! I knew that. Just had to tease. Back in the day it was a sore spot. That, and spelling my name with the โyโ after the โlโ. Nope, no Shirley here. It happened more than you know. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ

I can only imaging. Most people could handle Dan, but my last name was never pronounced or spelled correctly. I even had teachers telling me my parents were wrong!
