Dreaming Reality

The power to create lies within youโ€ฆ

Forever Young/#SoCS

When #SoCS hostย Linda Hillย posted the prompt for todayโ€™s event, I felt excited. For once it was not a question of if I could find a suitable subjectย but rather which one to choose.

While I will freely admit to never wanting to fully accept my role as an โ€˜adultโ€™ in the sense of leaving all childish things behind, there are a few moments that number among my very favorite to keep that inner child alive and well in me.

On our last โ€˜freeze inโ€™, I longed to be outdoors even for a bit, so I looked up a recipe for homemade bubbles and, well, the rest is bubble history. Someone had told me about blowing them and watching them freeze. Of course her temps registered at nearly zero. I managed to snag one that didnโ€™t burst and it began freezing on the ground.

It is like a bubble ballet watching them float and dance on the breezes.

The sun created wonderful reflections for me!

This was the closest I got to a frozen bubble.

And when you look up, you see other pretty, often unnoticed happenings…

In case you want to feel carefree and childlike again, here is the recipe I used. These are pretty tough bubbles too. Enjoy!

Homemade Bubbles

Measure 6 cups of water into one container, then pour 1 cup of dish soap into the water and slowly stir it until the soap is mixed in. Try not to let foam or bubbles form while you stir. Measure 1 tablespoon of glycerin or 1/4 cup of corn syrup and add it to the container. Stir the solution until it is mixed together.

Happy Weekend everyone!

  1. Those are beautiful pictures, and it’s good to know you’re still going out to play. Hard to pick a favorite, though. I like reflections, I like shapes and I love contrails. Good job Cheryl! And thanks for the recipe ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Alrighty then….. I just made my comment and before I could click on POST COMMENT it disappeared!! I’m gonna try it again, so if you get this twice, I apologize.

This is just too much fun. The bubbles are amazing, especially with the reflections. When my granddaughter was little, we blew bubbles all the time. Well, “I” blew most of the bubbles, trying to convince her it was more fun to chase them. No, she didn’t fall for that line!

Never heard of blowing bubbles in the winter. Thanks for putting the idea in my pea brain! ๐Ÿ˜œ

Now, I know I have corn syrup around here someplace………….

    • Haha! Well I know the magic lies in doing both. You should see me scrambling around between blowing the bubbles and chasing them for an image! It just doesnโ€™t seem as much fun or natural when hubby blows the bubbles for me to photograph. You know what they say…great pea brains think alike! ๐Ÿ˜‰Canโ€™t wait to see your photos!
