Faeries in the Garden

Well, maybe not in the fantasy sense, but the closest thing to those magical creatures I have come across in this very physical world. Since returning from Costa Rica, I have found a new muse. Dragonfly has appeared in my world-and in my garden,  adding an amazing presence of color, fluidity and lightness to my days and inspiring my soul. I would like to share my new friends with you here today.

They come in shades of blue….

Image

With whispers of wonder.

Image

To dance among the pastel blooms that collect the scattered raindrops of a Summer shower.

Image

Those that bear the colors of their namesake’s leathery skins..

Image

Hover near my vegetable garden, keeping a watchful eye over the fruits of my labors.

Image

How delightful and mysterious they seem to me, like wise little sentries of the garden.

Image

On a tightrope of electrical power they balance, threatening to fly away if I come too close, their golden wings glimmering in the evening sunlight.

Image

A woven wonder, their wings are a gauzy delight!

Image

Standing on their hands to perform feats of athletic prowess,  they brace their bodies against the early morning breezes..

Image

Image

Steady….

Image

It proudly takes its bow..

Image

And it finds a tasty morsel to snack on.

Image

They are a treasure in my little green garden world. It’s no wonder they come to see the beauty there.

Image

The roses climb..

Image

And the Hibiscus blushes before them.

Image

Where do they sleep? I do not know. I only hope they return another day, to delight my senses while they add beauty and magic to the place I call home.

Image

Smile for the camera!

Color and Light! A magical combination. No wonder my garden grows so happily!

Image

I can hardly wait to see what gifts tomorrow holds..I truly never realized there was such variety in the world of the common dragonfly. They are  magical indeed.

May your day be beautiful…

  1. My beloved Bookfayries Siri and Selma were very stunned seeing your great photographs. They had no idea about their relatives in Costa Rica.
    Fine pics – thank you.

    1. And thank you for visiting mine as well. I love the ocean photographs. I can feel the immense silence in them. Yes, the “faeries” in Costa Rica are quite large. I have some of those photos in one of my blog pages. The ones you saw in this post are here in Louisiana, US. I am amzaed at the large numbers of these creatures in my world lately. It seemed I only saw them while out on the river as a child. Now they are everywhere and seem to follow me! I love them! They have been muses for me to finish my first novel, which I am in the process of trying to get picked up for publication. We all remain hopeful! I love your blog and look forward to seeing your new posts. How imaginative and wonderful your writing is…
